Orquesta Aragón was formed on September 30, 1939 in Cienfuegos by Orestes Aragón. Originally named Ritmica 39, this charanga ensemble became one of Cuba's most famous orchestras. It helped popularize cha-chá-chá and danzón worldwide with hits like "El Bodeguero". The bands tight flute-violin arrangements and dance rhythms made it a symbol of Cuban music in the 1950s.
